Oklahoma Coordinator's Letter #4
Coordinator Letter #4 – October 27, 2001

Last Words to Runners/Volunteers

It is time to run! We are so grateful to the commitment you all have made to ensure success in the AAmericans/United Flag Across America. OK State Coordinators have spent countless hours putting logistics together across the state. We appreciate your support throughout all efforts thus far and ask for your continued support and encouragement during the sixty- hour trek through our great state.

Placing runners along the route has been a huge task ! We have tried to give specific details to all involved. Everyone should have the opportunity to run. Everyone should have the opportunity to carry the flag. If you have not received a running assignment, we apologize. Please plan to join us anyway. Everyone arrive at your assigned staging area close to your assigned time. If you do not have an assignment, look at runner arrival at a staging area and plan to arrive close to that time (could be a little earlier/later because runners will stagger departure times). Bring the release form found on www.flagrun2001.org. Staging Coordinators will collect waivers. Be patient. Be flexible. Be a good citizen and help as needed. It will ensure everyone has fun throughout the run and remembers what we are running for in Oklahoma! NOTE: Night running could use your assistance more than large metropolitan areas. BE SAFE!

Runners will be shuttled at various times throughout each leg. We have drivers in each area; however, it would be most beneficial to add more! Bring a spouse, friend, parent, etc. with you (even if they are not running) because we can always use one more volunteer, and we want everyone to experience Flag Across America in Oklahoma. NOTE: We have had incredible response in the Oklahoma City area. We are asking that OKC runners help us by making arrangements to provide their own drop offs and pick ups if possible. We are also asking OKC runners to enlist everyone they can to volunteer. Meet us at the ballpark and we will give them an opportunity to assist!

Staging Coordinators have been designated for each area. Details are found on www.flagrun2001.org under the OK pages. Check e-mail address for each on your assignment.

Thank you so much for your help in the staging areas. You all have been lifesavers! Our plan is to have as much coordinator assistance as we can for you. We have nametags, runner lists, etc. for you. Hopefully, someone will be a little ahead of the running crew for you to get it (especially those of you out West). Fritz has given you information. Be calm! Everyone will be there and everyone will help! Be a cheerleader! Assure everyone they ARE in the right place. Keep the runners moving through. We will be in contact if there are in major changes (especially with the time).

I am sure we have forgotten to tell you something. Hopefully with good attitudes and the American Spirit, you will just take care of it for you and those around you when you remember what it was we forgot. This is an Oklahoma team effort. This is a time to remember, to heal, and to resolve to make a better tomorrow for each of us. We are honored to have served you in this endeavor. Accept our thanks and know you will be remembered long after Old Glory leaves Oklahoma.

Run On – Leave Your Mark!
Dave, Fritz, and Susan
