Texas Diary: Dottie Lambing
Saturday October 27th

I would like to let you know how your efforts are appreciated.

The American People are closer today than they ever were. I am disappointed in the fact that it was only day before yesterday that I heard of your flag run. I called myself listening to the news, keeping abreast of what was going on, but I never heard of your effort. My husband was out of town and I was leaving to meet him when the flag run was to go through Longview, TX.

I listened to the event on my radio and felt a great amount of pride. Pride for the people of the United States of America. Proud to be an American. Chills passed through me. I was deeply moved. It is a great thing that you are doing. Not everyone in the USA was able to go to New York and assist. That would have not been possible. Donate is good, but being able to SHOW your support in an effort is unexplainable. People have to DO something. Something more than donate money, more than talk, something tangible. Your flag run is allowing the American people to do just that. Yes we can donate, but we can also be there, either running or on the sidelines cheering you on.

I don't know if I would have been able to run if I could have been there, but I would have been supporting you. Just know that you are doing more than just carrying the flag across America. You are allowing the American people to participate in something. The cream of America, our sons and daughters, the many political and helpful organizations have the opportunity to assist. The homemakers, children, and our older Americans don't have many opportunities to show their support. Thank you very much for this...

I would encourage you to try and see that others are aware of your flag run well in advance of the run. Somewhere, the media is not reporting this as I would think they would and am very disappointed in them. I plan on contacting the media in my area to voice my disappointment in missing this event.

GOD BLESS YOU.
